Before your child's first day

     Read and look at picture books about child care. Some books show and tell about a day in a family child care home or center. Others deal with feelings a child might have about being away from a parent or playing with other children.Prepare your child. Talk to your child about what child care will be like. Even if your child is a toddler, children can usually understand clear explanations.
 
     Point to the calendar and talk about what days of the week are work days for you and child care days for him or her. Talk about whether he or she will eat and nap there. Your happy positive attitude and calm voice will help your child know this will be a good place to stay.

Getting kids to do homework

     Kids gravitate toward homework at about the same speed with which they ate spinach. While parents may not be able to get them to absolutely love doing lessons after school, there are a few things you can try to help kids turn off the television and pick up a textbook. Here are a few tried and true ideas. 

1. Set a designated "homework" time each day. For some families, that may mean a quick 4 p.m. snack followed by an hour or two of lessons before supper. For others, an after-dinner time works best. Set aside between one and two hours, except for very young children in grades 1 to three.

Parenting Tips: How to Improve Student Motivation

   Motivation is a great thing, IF you have it. Motivation that is lacking can be a huge downfall to an otherwise bright student. Parents ‘can’ improve their child’s motivation in ways that will encourage them without distracting them from their original goals.

Tips on How to Build Confidence in Speaking in English

   Learning to speak English with confidence is not as easy as one might think.  Most if not ALL of the students who sign up with St. Jeanne Beverly Tutorials & Learning Center have just that problem… lack of or no confidence when communicating and speaking in English.  As a teacher — no progress is really complete without building that confidence — so it is my main goal when teaching to boost upa student’s confidence as much as possible.
